I've had plenty of experience as to what I don't want in my life and I have much to offer and won't settle for less that I deserve ever again. Physical attraction is important but matters not if you don't have trust, loyalty, mutual respect, and common interests. In order to have a successful relationship both people need to know, "Who they are", : "where they are going" and only then will they be successrul in selection "who you are going there with"
IMHO intimacy is can only be achieved through the process of building trust. Trust is built by allowing yourself to become vulnerable and saying things which are sometimes difficult to say... but you say it anyway. Your partner knows you don't harbor secrets... and you know that you can trust your partner to accept you... warts and all. With time... you really have something worthwhile.
